The Indian Army has signed a 6.6-billion-rupee ($75-million) contract with MKU Limited for the delivery of 29,762 Netro NW 3000 Night Vision Weapon Sights.

The order — among the largest electro-optics procurements in the service’s history — was finalized under the defense ministry’s emergency procurement powers, underscoring India’s focus on strengthening domestic defense production.

Developed under the Indigenously Designed, Developed, and Manufactured (IDDM) category, the Netro NW 3000 integrates with standard assault rifles to enhance detection and targeting in low-light and night conditions.

MKU said the system successfully completed rigorous field evaluations across varied terrains, proving its reliability and precision. The device forms part of the company’s growing Netro Optronics portfolio, aimed at boosting soldiers’ night-fighting capabilities through superior clarity and range.

The acquisition aligns with the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative to advance India’s self-reliance in defense. It follows a series of domestic procurements, including BEL’s thermal imagers, ideaForge drones, and L&T’s K9 Vajra howitzers.

MKU, which provides protective gear and electro-optics to over 230 global security forces, reaffirmed its commitment to indigenous innovation supporting India’s modernization goals and operational preparedness.
