Mack Defense has been awarded a contract to deliver up to 450 M917A3 Heavy Dump Trucks (HDTs) to the US Army. Valued at up to $221.8 million, the agreement will provide new heavy-duty vehicles for the service’s active duty, reserve, and National Guard units. Production will be carried out at Mack’s Experience Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania—dedicated to HDT manufacturing since a $6.5 million upgrade in 2021—alongside its long-established Lehigh Valley facility in Macungie. Once in service, the trucks will be used for constructing and maintaining airfields, roads, landing strips, supply depots, motor pools, and for disaster relief in extreme weather conditions.
