The Netherlands Ministry of Defence is weighing a multi-billion-dollar contract for approximately 400 Armored Combat Support Vehicles (ACSVs), with Van Halteren Technologies emerging as the leading contender among nearly 20 bidders. The Bunschoten-based company is reportedly favored to deliver the fleet for the Royal Netherlands Army, according to local reports. The planned ACSVs will provide frontline formations with enhanced transport, logistics, maintenance, and recovery capabilities, while certain variants may be equipped with anti-drone cannons and short-range air defence guns to broaden operational flexibility.

Earlier in 2025, the Dutch MoD outlined requirements for more than 100 armored support vehicles for the 43rd Mechanized Brigade, with deliveries anticipated between 2029 and 2031. Awarding the larger ACSV contract domestically would further strengthen the Netherlands’ defence industrial base. Van Halteren already supplies components for key Dutch military platforms such as the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle, Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzer, Fennek reconnaissance vehicle, and Leopard 2 main battle tank. The company is also seeking involvement in the construction of four Orka-class submarines, which are set to be built by France’s Naval Group. A domestic award would align with Amsterdam’s broader objective of channeling increased defence spending into national industry as it works toward NATO’s 2 percent GDP defence spending benchmark.
