Polish firm Bumech has entered into a cooperation agreement with South Africa’s OTT Technologies to establish local production of OTT armored vehicles in Poland.

This agreement marks Bumech’s strategic expansion into the defense sector, covering production, marketing, and distribution of OTT platforms across Europe.

The collaboration will initially focus on the PUMA, LM, and Bulldog vehicles, alongside a preliminary plan to integrate anti-drone defense systems.

Assembly will begin using components supplied by OTT, with a gradual transition toward EU-manufactured parts and materials. Over time, the partnership aims to achieve licensed production with at least 70% EU-sourced components.

The process will also involve adapting critical systems such as drivetrains and engines to comply with EU emissions and regulatory standards.

Bumech will provide full financial support, including start-up costs and sales-related expenditures.

The first phase of this cooperation runs until December 31, 2027, with an extension option subject to performance thresholds.

Poland alone has an estimated requirement of 3,000 armored vehicles, while additional demand from border security and police agencies enhances the growth potential.
