Rheinmetall has been awarded a €63 million ($74.5 million) contract to deliver Seasnake 30 light naval guns to the Swedish Navy for integration on Combat Boat 90 vessels.
The first batch covers eight systems, including ammunition packages, spare components, and service support over a four-year period, with an option for 29 more units. Deliveries are set to commence in February 2028.
The remotely controlled weapon station features electro-optical sensors and a laser rangefinder for automatic target acquisition and multi-threat tracking. Its 30mm revolver cannon achieves a firing rate of 1,100 rounds per minute.
This marks the first NATO procurement of the Seasnake 30. Sweden will employ the system for air defense in amphibious operations, supported by Hensoldt’s Spexer 2000 3D MkIII Naval radar.
