Babcock International Group has secured a contract extension to continue its support of the Royal Air Force’s Light Aircraft Flying Task (LAFT) program. The renewed agreement will see the company provide essential services for an additional four years, ensuring air personnel have access to reliable and secure flying training programs.

Beyond pilot training, the contract includes a wide range of support services such as asset management, technical assistance, fire and rescue operations, air traffic control, and the provision of aircraft fleets across 13 UK locations.

The LAFT program supports up to 31,500 flying hours daily, covering activities such as the University Air Squadron volunteer reserve program, elementary flight training, advanced grading, and flight experience opportunities for all branches of the British Armed Forces, as well as international partners.

Over the past two decades, the program has accumulated more than 750,000 flight hours. Babcock noted that the extension reflects its strong and enduring partnership with the Royal Air Force, combining the reliability of an established contract with the flexibility needed to adapt to evolving training demands.
