L3Harris Technologies has been awarded a follow-on contract valued at up to $200 million to manufacture additional solid rocket motors for Lockheed Martin’s Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) Insensitive Munition (IM).
This award represents the first production order to be executed at L3Harris’ newly established facility in Camden, Arkansas, which was developed with support from a Defense Production Act Title III cooperative agreement.
The Camden site, together with upgraded production lines across the company, is designed to address rising demand from U.S. and allied forces by enabling high-rate, on-time rocket deliveries. The expansion is expected to increase L3Harris’ annual production capacity by more than 30 percent.
Production of inert components will continue at the company’s Advanced Manufacturing Facility–South in Huntsville, Alabama.
GMLRS is a GPS-guided artillery rocket that delivers precision effects against long-range targets. The GMLRS IM variant features a reduced explosive hazard warhead, enhancing safety during storage, handling, and transportation.
Its accuracy, responsiveness, and operational reliability have made GMLRS a critical munition for U.S. Army and allied artillery formations.
L3Harris has served as a key propulsion partner for Lockheed Martin for years, supporting multiple GMLRS contracts aimed at rapidly expanding production capacity. Through advanced manufacturing processes, the company has increased output by nearly 80 percent.
This latest agreement is the largest single 12-month GMLRS IM contract L3Harris has received from Lockheed Martin to date.
