Agile Defense has been awarded a major subcontract under a $44-million US Navy program aimed at modernizing and securing the Military Sealift Command’s (MSC) global IT infrastructure.

The prime contract, granted to Savvee Consulting, spans five and a half years and focuses on delivering advanced IT engineering to strengthen cybersecurity posture, streamline enterprise operations, and enhance system resilience across MSC’s global logistics network.

As a key subcontractor, Agile Defense will provide cybersecurity support, data analytics, and system sustainment services to bolster MSC’s ability to manage its fleet of 130+ civilian-crewed ships that deliver supplies, fuel, and equipment to US and allied forces worldwide.

Jay Burkhardt, Vice President for Navy and Marine Corps Operations at Agile Defense, said the partnership underscores the company’s commitment to integrating secure, efficient digital systems into naval operations.

Beyond system modernization, the initiative contributes to the US Navy’s broader mission assurance goals, reinforcing digital infrastructure resilience and aligning with Department of Defense (DoD) efforts to elevate cybersecurity across operational technology and maritime platforms.

About the Military Sealift Command
The MSC serves as the US Navy’s logistics backbone, operating ships that transport fuel, ammunition, and critical supplies to deployed forces around the globe. Headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, MSC’s fleet includes fast combat support vessels, ocean surveillance ships, and hospital ships, forming a key component of the Pentagon’s supply network.

In 2025, the command expanded its fleet with the John Lewis-class oilers, improving refueling efficiency for carrier strike groups. It also began deploying enhanced cybersecurity frameworks aboard auxiliary ships to meet Navy Cybersecurity Readiness standards. Earlier this year, MSC completed upgrades to its Global Maritime Operations Center, enabling real-time tracking and fleet coordination worldwide.
