BAE Systems has received a $162-million contract from the U.S. Army to manufacture major titanium structures for the lightweight M777 howitzer. Production has commenced through BAE’s U.S. and U.K. supply chains, including its new artillery facility in Sheffield, U.K. Initial deliveries are scheduled for 2026. The M777 has seen renewed demand following its battlefield use in Ukraine, with over 200 units supplied by allied nations. Weighing just 4 tons, it’s easily deployable by aircraft or helicopter.
