The US Army has issued a $900.5-million order for additional Javelin missiles, marking the first sales to Brazil and Tunisia. The deal follows a 2023 contract with the Raytheon-Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture, and also includes deliveries to Australia, Bulgaria, and Estonia. Brazil and Tunisia’s purchases make them the first Javelin users in South America and North Africa, completing global adoption of the system. The man-portable missile, consisting of a Command Launch Unit and launch tube assembly, offers fire-and-forget accuracy against armored threats at 65 meters to 4 kilometers. Its CLU provides daylight and thermal magnification, ensuring effectiveness even in obscured conditions.
