Draganfly has announced a major advancement in its global defense presence with a new contract to deliver Commander 3XL drones to an undisclosed military customer in the Asia-Pacific region. The procurement, managed through a prominent defense partner, reflects increasing regional interest in Western UAV capabilities for modernization and tactical readiness. Contractual confidentiality clauses prevent disclosure of the buyer’s identity and specific deal terms.
The agreement equips the customer with a full operational capability set that includes secure AES-256 communication links, a robust ground control station, and several modular payload systems tailored for reconnaissance, monitoring, and battlefield logistics support. The contract structure also allows for scaling, enabling the military user to expand fleet size following operational evaluation and mission trials.
Designed as a versatile heavy-lift platform, Draganfly’s Commander 3XL supports payloads up to 10 kilograms and accommodates thermal sensors, optical cameras, mapping instruments, and other mission-specific modules. Its foldable construction ensures rapid deployment and easy transport, making it well-suited for fast-moving or distributed military formations.
The aircraft’s capabilities include all-weather flight in light precipitation, speeds up to 38 knots, maximum altitudes of approximately 2,438 meters, and endurance of nearly 50 minutes. Depending on antenna configuration, the drone can achieve operational ranges exceeding 10 kilometers, enhancing situational awareness for long-range missions. The new contract further cements Draganfly’s role as a key UAV provider in Asia-Pacific defense procurement programs.
