The U.S. State Department has approved a potential $8.5 billion Foreign Military Sale to Denmark for Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS)-enabled Patriot PAC-3 MSE air defense systems and associated equipment. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified Congress, advancing Denmark’s acquisition of one of the U.S. military’s most advanced land-based air and missile defense systems.

The request includes 36 MIM-104E Patriot GEM-T missiles for protection against aircraft, cruise missiles, and some ballistic threats, along with 20 PAC-3 MSE interceptors designed for high-performance engagements against advanced ballistic and hypersonic-like weapons.

The package also provides two AN/MPQ-65 radars, two Engagement Control Stations, six Patriot launchers, IBCS fire control relays, collaborative environments, Engagement Operations Centers, and power plant units. To ensure full readiness, Denmark will also receive communications gear, encryption systems, GPS devices, IFF modules, training simulators, spare parts, technical documents, and full logistical and field support.
