The US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has created a new command to oversee the distribution of spare parts and repair components vital to keeping military systems operational.
The new organization, called DLA Weapons Support, unites DLA Aviation in Richmond, Virginia, and DLA Land and Maritime in Columbus, Ohio, under one umbrella, managing Class IX supplies—essential items that sustain the readiness of aircraft, vehicles, and other defense equipment.
While both former facilities will continue to operate, their signage and organizational designations will be updated to align with the new command.
DLA emphasized that leadership of Weapons Support will be shared over a one-year transition period, with ongoing communication to employees and customers throughout the change.
