The EVOLYS ultralight machine gun from FN Herstal offers a new option for troops requiring firepower and mobility. Chambered in NATO-standard 5.56mm and 7.62mm, the weapon weighs between 5.5 and 6.2 kilograms, considerably less than previous squad-level guns. The 5.56mm model offers mobility in close-range scenarios, while the 7.62mm variant extends reach to 1,000 meters. Designed for modern battlefields, EVOLYS incorporates folding stocks, ambidextrous features, and compatibility with suppressors. FN Herstal described the platform as bridging the gap between belt-fed firepower and the handling of assault rifles, enabling forces to sustain suppressive fire with less burden.
