The Haitian armed forces have received seven Senator Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, marking the first shipment under a 17-vehicle order intended to boost national security and mobility.

The delivery will bolster Haiti’s capacity to combat armed gangs, secure convoys, and support humanitarian operations in volatile regions. The armored platforms are designed to protect personnel from gunfire, roadside bombs, and ambush tactics.

Built by Roshel, a Canadian defense manufacturer, the Senator features ballistic armor meeting NATO standards, capable of withstanding 155mm shell fragments and TNT charges. Its V-shaped underbody dissipates blast force away from the cabin, a hallmark of MRAP engineering.

Based on the Ford F-550 truck, the vehicle accommodates up to 10 occupants, offering a 2-ton payload and 6-meter (20-foot) length. Powered by a 330-horsepower V8 6.7-liter diesel engine with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, it can travel up to 800 kilometers (497 miles) and achieve a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph).
