Projekt System & Management, the joint business venture between KNDS and Rheinmetall, has been awarded a contract to supply nine Puma infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) firing and combat training systems (AGSPs) to the German Armed Forces.

The contract is valued at €119.5 million ($139.5 million), with €118.5 million ($138.3 million) allocated to Rheinmetall’s Electronics division, which is acting as the primary subcontractor.

In addition to delivering new systems, the contract includes upgrading Germany’s existing AGSP development model to full production standard and providing transport containers for all training facilities.

Initial deliveries are scheduled to begin in mid-2027.

The AGSP was developed by Rheinmetall to train mechanized infantry units at the platoon level without the need for actual vehicles, while its networking capability allows collective training exercises up to company level.

The simulator is designed to replicate real battlefield conditions by accurately modeling vehicle mobility, weapons effects, physical feedback, and aiming behavior, in line with a “train as you fight” training philosophy.

Each AGSP comprises a command, evaluation, and monitoring station, along with four replicated Puma IFV crew compartments housed in twelve standard 20-foot (6-meter) containers, allowing the system to be transported and deployed at multiple locations.

The modular design enables rapid replacement or upgrading of key components, such as server racks and driver stations, while external access simplifies logistics and sustainment.

Germany’s Office for Army Development approved the system for acceptance in September 2025, ahead of the military’s investment of more than $4 billion to acquire 200 Puma IFVs and a new batch of 30-millimeter ammunition.
