RMMV to Supply Over 1,300 HX-Series Vehicles to German Army Under €770M Order

The German Armed Forces have awarded Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) a new contract for the supply of more than 1,300 logistics vehicles, valued at approximately €770 million ($891 million).

The delivery includes 963 swap-body-configured vehicles, with variants featuring armored driver cabins, flatbed designs, or tarpaulin-arch setups. Also included are 425 unprotected transport vehicles (UTVs) in both 4×4 and 8×8 formats. Completion is expected by late 2025.

This order falls within a broader €3.5 billion ($4 billion) framework agreement finalized in July 2024, which enables the German military to procure up to 6,500 vehicles over the next seven years. The recent order adds a new 3.5-ton 4×4 class to the portfolio, which already includes vehicles in the 5-ton and 15-ton categories.

Germany’s use of UTVs dates back to 2017, when RMMV began supplying the Bundeswehr with cargo vehicles from the HX series. To date, nearly 7,000 HX trucks have been delivered, alongside swap-body units and 70-ton semitrailers. The UTV and swap-body variants remain based on the versatile and widely adopted HX vehicle family.
