KNDS Deutschland has been tasked with manufacturing 48 Boxer vehicles for the German Armed Forces.

Under the 352-million-euro ($409 million) agreement, the company will deliver 38 heavily protected Boxer ambulance variants and 10 Boxer driver training vehicles, with an option for an additional 150 ambulances and 100 training units.

Deliveries are planned to begin in early 2028.

The contract is part of a broader 4.5-billion-euro ($5.25 billion) framework arrangement to supply 270 Boxer vehicles to Germany and the Netherlands.

KNDS is fulfilling the order as a subcontractor to ARTEC, the Boxer’s original equipment manufacturer and a joint venture between KNDS Deutschland and Rheinmetall Landsysteme.

Boxer Variants

The Boxer ambulance serves as the first step in the medical evacuation chain, offering crucial pre-hospital treatment for injured personnel.

Its modular mission system allows it to carry multiple casualties depending on injury severity and also supports intensive care when required.

This variant provides the same high level of protection for its crew as the infantry fighting version, ensuring survivability in operational environments.

The driver training variant is built to train and certify operators of the Boxer platform.

Used solely for training during peacetime, the vehicle’s weight and driving characteristics closely mirror operational variants, ensuring a smooth transition to frontline models.
