Israel’s Ministry of Defense has finalized a deal with U.S. manufacturer AM General for the supply of several hundred High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs or Humvees), along with spare parts support, totaling approximately 500 million shekels ($150 million). Financed through U.S. military aid, the first batch is scheduled for delivery later this year.

These Humvees will be deployed by the Israeli Ground Forces to replenish and upgrade their fleet after nearly two years of combat in Gaza and to bolster readiness for future operations. Specifically configured for the Israel Defense Forces, the vehicles will be capable of transporting more than ten soldiers, carrying out casualty evacuations, and delivering fire support. Humvees, long a staple in U.S. military service, are used for missions ranging from troop movement and logistics to special operations. In recent years, Israel has supplemented its vehicle fleet with new JLTVs through a combination of U.S. government and direct commercial purchases.
