Canada’s naval modernization received a boost as Lockheed Martin secured a $104.6-million contract to deliver SPY-7 AESA radars through a US-managed foreign military sale. The solid-state radar provides high-resolution, long-range sensing and supports continuous upgrades via its open architecture. Production will continue into the early 2030s, aligning with Canada’s River-class Surface Combatant program. Designed for both maritime and land-based use, SPY-7 enhances Canada’s future fleet with scalable, all-domain sensing capability suited for evolving threat environments.
