Malaysia has become the first international customer for Thales’ HF XL TRC 3900 radio systems, following a new export contract with Advanced Defence Systems.

Under the agreement, more than 100 vehicle-mounted HF XL stations will be delivered, featuring radios, antennas, and amplifiers.

Designed to ensure reliable, high-capacity communications, the HF XL TRC 3900 enhances Malaysia’s ability to operate securely in both densely populated areas and isolated terrain. Thales states the system provides about 10 times the data throughput of legacy HF radios, supporting voice, imagery, and video transmission across long distances.

The Malaysian Army, a long-time customer, has already received 10,000+ Thales radios over the last 25 years. The TRC 3900 line offers multiple configurations, from 20W manpacks with a 1,000 km (620-mile) reach, to 400W and 1kW variants enabling connectivity up to 5,000 km (3,100 miles).

Built for security, endurance, and cost efficiency, the system is designed to withstand jamming and function effectively even where satellite access is restricted.
