Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $140.8 million contract by the US Department of Defense to support the production of five E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft for Japan under a foreign military sale.

The agreement includes non-recurring engineering work, primarily to be conducted in Melbourne, Florida, and various other US locations. Coordination will be managed by the Naval Air Systems Command in Maryland, which oversees US Navy aviation systems and armaments.

The sale, valued at $1.38 billion, will provide Japan with aircraft equipped with engines, radar, GPS, avionics, and electronic warfare capabilities. Some of these components will be pre-installed, while others will serve as spares.

Project completion is expected by March 2029.
