The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) has awarded Hanwha Aerospace a third contract to supply 24 additional K9 VIDAR self-propelled howitzers, expanding Norway’s fleet to 52 units. Deliveries will continue through 2027, with the systems featuring modernized communications and integration into Norway’s national combat network. The agreement also provides Integrated Logistics Support, ensuring training and maintenance in partnership with Norwegian industry.

A formal signing ceremony was held in Oslo, attended by Hanwha Aerospace CEO Jaeil Son, NDMA Director General Gro Jære, Norwegian Army Chief Major General Lars Lervik, and South Korean Ambassador Min-Jeong Seo. This order builds on previous acquisitions: in 2017, Norway procured 24 K9s and six K10 ammunition vehicles, completed by 2020, with training centralized at Bjerkvik. The first unit entered service at Setermoen in January 2021, followed by deployments at Setermoen and Rena later that year. In 2022, Norway added four more K9s and eight K10s. By early 2025, the army operated 28 K9s and 14 K10s. In April 2025, the government announced plans for a further 24 K9 VIDARs valued at about $534 million—an order now formalized with the September 2025 signing.
