Textron Systems has been awarded a $41 million contract to support the US Air Force’s T-7A Advanced Pilot Training Program through its Maintenance Training System.
Issued by federal contractor Akima, the three-year task order includes the design, fabrication, and delivery of common fuselage structures for three sustainment simulators used to train Air Force maintenance personnel.
The simulators are intended to prepare ground crews to maintain operational T-7A Red Hawk aircraft and related subsystems, offering hands-on instruction in a highly realistic training environment.
Training activities include component installation and removal, virtual evaluations, inspections, and associated maintenance procedures.
Textron will execute the work at its Goose Creek, South Carolina facility, which specializes in tactical simulation solutions supporting maintainer training for fighter, bomber, and transport aircraft.
The agreement also includes options for additional training systems valued at up to $21 million, potentially increasing the total contract value to $62 million.
Textron will collaborate on the program with Akima’s Alabama-based subsidiary, Pinnacle Solutions.
