Serious Simulations, based in Florida, has secured a $28 million deal from the U.S. Army to supply realistic grenade and mine simulators for soldier training.

The systems mimic genuine munitions in appearance and function, including parts such as pull rings, safety clips, and spoons for grenades and Claymore firing devices with wire spools and bandoleers. Rather than explosives, they employ the company’s proximity-based technology to replicate battlefield effects.

When activated, the devices calculate their proximity to nearby personnel or vehicles to assess simulated damage, accounting for protective obstacles like cover or terrain.

Results are delivered instantly to a Universal Receiver Unit, providing immediate feedback and feeding data directly into the Army’s Synthetic Training Environment for comprehensive exercise evaluation.
