Germany’s selection of Top Aces for long-term aggressor and operational training services highlights the growing reliance on contractor-provided adversary air solutions. Valued at up to €420 million over 10 years, the contract will see upgraded A-4N Skyhawks and Alpha Jets simulate advanced aerial threats using modern sensors and mission systems. Central to the capability is the Advanced Aggressor Mission System, which enables aircraft to emulate contemporary fighters through open-architecture avionics, AESA radar integration, datalinks, and electronic warfare effects. These features allow German pilots and joint forces to train against realistic threat profiles without consuming valuable frontline aircraft hours. The Skyhawk and Alpha Jet fleets will support diverse training roles, from weapons delivery and naval strike to electronic warfare and multinational exercises, enhancing readiness across the German armed forces.
