Cubic Defence UK has signed a two-year deal with the UK Ministry of Defence to deliver the Instrumented Live Training Area Weapons Effects System (ILT-A), a next-generation training platform focused on enhancing combat readiness through realistic, data-driven simulations.
Replacing the former Area Weapons Effects Simulation program, the ILT-A contract expands Cubic’s longstanding collaboration with the UK Armed Forces.
The agreement allows for adaptable training at both the individual and collective levels across a variety of operational environments.
Key Features:
ILT-A merges laser simulation and area-effect tools with live-fire zones and drone support to mimic modern, multi-domain conflict scenarios.
It collects data for detailed after-action assessments and integrates seamlessly with Cubic’s SCOPIC2 system, which blends virtual assets into live drills for added realism and enhanced team coordination.
SCOPIC2 also supports simulated surveillance, artillery, and airstrike functions to elevate battlefield training dynamics.
Defense Investment Update:
As part of a broader defense buildup, the UK continues to invest in strategic capabilities and industry partnerships.
This includes a recently announced modernization initiative at Faslane to strengthen the UK’s nuclear deterrence infrastructure.
In June, GM Defense and NP Aerospace introduced their Infantry Squad Vehicle for consideration in the Army’s Light Mobility Vehicle program.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has also proposed boosting defense spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027—the highest commitment since the Cold War era.
