The U.S. State Department has approved a $4.67 billion NASAMS air defense system sale to Egypt, aimed at enhancing Cairo’s ability to detect and counter diverse air threats.
The system — already combat-proven in Ukraine — will significantly upgrade Egypt’s defensive posture.
The deal also aligns with U.S. national interests by supporting the security of a strategic Middle Eastern partner.
Congressional review of the proposed sale is still required.
