American engine maker GE Aerospace has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Poland’s Military Aviation Works (WZL-2) to establish a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) program for the F110-GE-129 engine.
Under the agreement, GE Aerospace and WZL-2, part of the state-owned PGZ Group, will define requirements for intermediate and depot-level maintenance, including tooling, machining, training, and test cell upgrades.

Advancing Poland’s F110 Engine Capability
GE highlighted that the F110 incorporates Shop Replacement Units (SRUs), allowing up to 90% of maintenance to be performed locally — cutting downtime and lifecycle costs.
Delivering 29,500 pounds (13,381 kilograms) of thrust, the engine powers the F-15EX fighter and F-16 Block 50 and later variants.

While Warsaw is still weighing the F-15EX for its modernization plans, it has already signed a US contract to upgrade its F-16 Block 52 fleet to Block 72 by August 2025.
In addition to the MRO deal, GE Aerospace also signed a partnership with the Polish Military University of Technology (WAT) in September, covering the creation of an engine training center and an additive manufacturing laboratory to support F110 operations.
