Kongsberg and OSI Maritime Systems have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop and integrate advanced submarine navigation technologies.

The collaboration is aligned with Canada’s Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP), launched in 2021 to acquire up to 12 conventionally powered submarines that will replace the aging Victoria-class diesel-electric fleet.

Under the agreement, OSI’s navigation solutions for both surface ships and submarines will be incorporated into Kongsberg’s global supply chain and integrated with the ORCCA Combat Management System (CMS). Kongsberg is offering the ORCCA CMS together with German shipbuilder TKMS, one of the leading contenders for the CPSP contract.

The partnership also seeks to establish an indigenous submarine sustainment capability in Canada, enhancing operational readiness, safety, long-term maintenance, and lifecycle support for the Royal Canadian Navy’s future submarine fleet.
