General Dynamics NASSCO has entered a new cooperation agreement with South Korea’s DSEC and Samsung Heavy Industries, aiming to enhance joint work in ship design, shipyard automation, and modern manufacturing technologies for American shipbuilding programs. Under the arrangement, the three companies will pursue a range of major US commercial and military ship programs, including anticipated bids for the US Navy’s Next Generation Logistics Ship program. The collaboration builds on NASSCO’s established relationship with South Korean industry, leveraging technical strengths and production experience from both sides. NASSCO has delivered roughly 150 vessels over its history and is currently constructing the US Navy’s John Lewis-class oilers while studying future submarine tender replacements. Its partnerships with South Korean companies have played a key role in several recent commercial ship projects. DSEC has supported American ship programs for more than 30 years, specializing in engineering, procurement, and quality oversight. Samsung Heavy Industries adds significant global shipbuilding capability, including production of LNG tankers, container vessels, offshore drillships, and floating production systems.
