Japan and India have partnered to develop next-generation unmanned aircraft systems capable of autonomous decision-making and operations even in communication-denied environments.

The initiative will be spearheaded by Tokyo-based Digital Media Professionals, which will provide its edge AI-powered Di1 chip for the program. The compact single-chip architecture combines the CPU, memory, and AI processor into one integrated platform for efficient onboard computing.

According to the company, the Di1 system delivers high-performance, low-power processing and can simultaneously manage up to four camera feeds, giving drones full 360-degree situational awareness during missions.
