KNDS has unveiled an enhanced version of its Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 main battle tank demonstrator at a defense exhibition in France, showcasing an unmanned turret configuration and a reduced three-member crew concept aimed at next-generation armored warfare.
Developed through company-funded efforts, the platform features a remotely operated turret with a redesigned gun integration system that positions the main weapon above the hull structure. This arrangement creates additional internal space, minimizes the protected volume, and reduces vehicle weight, improving mobility while simplifying weapon and ammunition replacement. The design also incorporates a foldable turret architecture to facilitate easier rail transport.
Based on the proven Leopard 2 platform, the A-RC 3.0 can accommodate 120mm, 130mm, or 140mm main guns, providing flexibility for future firepower enhancements. KNDS has further strengthened the vehicle’s counter-UAS capabilities through advanced secondary armaments designed to engage aerial threats. Enhanced digital networking features enable greater battlefield connectivity and integration into modern combat networks.
The tank measures 8 meters in length, 4 meters in width, and 2 meters in height, with a combat weight below 60 tons. Powered by a 1,500-horsepower engine, it can reach speeds of up to 65 km/h and has an operational range of approximately 460 kilometers.
