SSS Defence has unveiled a new 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun tailored for modern military needs, combining robust construction, advanced features, and high versatility. The gas-operated, magazine-fed T12 stands out as a cutting-edge tactical shotgun, notably featuring a unique “drop-in” trigger system — a rare capability in military-grade shotguns worldwide.
The weapon is equipped with a 20-inch nitrided barrel for improved durability and corrosion resistance. Its upper and lower receivers are machined from 7075 T6 aluminium, offering a lightweight yet highly durable structure suited for demanding operational conditions. Fully ambidextrous controls and a multi-position buttstock with an integrated cheek rest enhance ergonomics and adaptability across diverse combat scenarios.
Designed primarily for Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) roles, the T12 is effective against low-flying drones using specialized ammunition, while also functioning as a conventional tactical shotgun for close-quarters combat, breaching, and perimeter defense. This dual-role capability makes it attractive to special forces, paramilitary units, and conventional military formations.
A major advantage of the T12 is its compatibility with other systems in the SSS Defence portfolio, simplifying logistics, maintenance, and training requirements for users already operating the company’s small arms.
Future variants are under development, including versions with integrated suppressors to support stealth operations and reduced-signature engagements. With its advanced design and operational flexibility, the T12 represents a significant evolution in shotgun technology and strengthens India’s position in the global small arms market.
