A newly revealed North Korean short-range air defense system has drawn attention for its notable resemblance to Russia’s Pantsir platform.
Footage from the Defense Development 2025 showcase depicts a tracked launcher similar in layout and armament to the Russian system, though adapted to Pyongyang’s operational needs. The switch from wheels to tracks marks a significant design shift from earlier domestic models.
The adaptation points to a focus on maneuverability and survivability, suggesting the system is intended to protect mobile units from nearby air attacks in dynamic combat zones.
