Archer Aviation and Karem Aircraft have finalized an agreement enabling the integration of Karem’s advanced military-grade rotor and tiltrotor systems into Archer’s future autonomous hybrid VTOL platform. Through this deal, Archer obtains critical components of Karem’s tiltrotor technology, previously validated through testing with the US Army. Archer intends to combine these capabilities with intellectual property recently acquired from Overair and Lilium. This consolidated technological base aims to deliver an aircraft offering faster transit speeds, longer operational range, improved payload performance, and significantly reduced noise and thermal output — elements essential for complex defense and multi-environment missions. The collaboration builds on Archer’s current defense engagements, including the delivery of its Midnight electric VTOL aircraft to the US Air Force. Karem’s engineering pedigree includes contributions to aircraft such as the MQ-1 Predator and the A160 Hummingbird. The agreement follows Archer’s joint effort with Anduril Industries to develop a next-generation unmanned hybrid VTOL system for potential adoption by the Pentagon. While specifics remain undisclosed, the program has been confirmed as an active development initiative. Additionally, Archer recently signed a contract to provide its electric powertrain for the Omen unmanned aerial system, produced under a joint venture between Anduril and EDGE Group. The UAE is expected to procure approximately 50 Omen aircraft from the partnership.
