Patria and KNDS Deutschland Maintenance have signed an agreement to assemble and integrate Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers in Germany as part of the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program.
The agreement follows two contracts awarded to Patria by the German Armed Forces in December 2025. Serial production and deliveries are expected to accelerate in early 2027, with an increasing proportion of manufacturing activities being transferred to German facilities.
Under the arrangement, KNDS will undertake vehicle assembly and final integration while supporting the development of a broader German production network involving multiple domestic suppliers. Patria will provide the technical expertise and manufacturing know-how required to establish local production capabilities.
The CAVS program was launched by Finland and Latvia in 2020 to provide participating nations with a common Patria 6×6 platform while allowing individual countries to tailor vehicle configurations to their operational requirements.
Patria 6×6 vehicles have already been delivered to Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Denmark, and Germany. Norway and the UK are also participating in the program, while the platform is operationally deployed in Ukraine.
The CAVS initiative has also received €60 million ($70 million) through the European Defence Industry Reinforcement through Common Procurement Act, an EU mechanism designed to strengthen joint defense procurement among member states.
Recent Patria Armored Vehicle Developments
The German production agreement follows several recent developments involving Patria’s wheeled and tracked armored vehicle programs.
Finland, Norway, and Latvia recently signed a statement of intent to explore the adoption of Patria’s TRACKX system and expand cooperation in military land mobility. Developed through the EU-funded Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armored Systems program, TRACKX is a lightweight tracked armored vehicle designed for operations in challenging terrain.
The agreement will enable the three countries to exchange field-trial data, coordinate further development, and assess opportunities for joint procurement.
Meanwhile, Patria and Slovakia revised their production schedule in June to accelerate deliveries under Slovakia’s 8×8 armored vehicle program, with priority given to infantry fighting vehicle variants. Ambulance variants were delivered during the month, while other configurations remain under production or systems integration.
