Embraer has completed final assembly and rolled out the Republic of Korea Air Force’s first C-390 Millennium transport aircraft, marking a key milestone in South Korea’s airlift modernization program.
The rollout follows Seoul’s 2023 decision to procure new tactical airlift platforms under its Large Transport Aircraft initiative, making South Korea the first Asian customer for Embraer’s military transport aircraft.
Beyond aircraft delivery, Embraer will also provide a comprehensive support and services package, including collaboration with South Korean maintenance, repair, and overhaul providers to ensure sustained operational readiness of the future fleet.
The C-390 Millennium is capable of carrying payloads of up to 26,000 kilograms, or approximately 80 fully equipped troops. Depending on mission requirements, the aircraft can transport seven standard pallets, six pallets with around 30 personnel, 60 paratroopers, or up to 70 medical evacuation stretchers.
Powered by two IAE V2500-E5 turbofan engines, the aircraft supports long-range operations with a maximum fuel capacity of 23,000 kilograms. Measuring 35 meters in length, the C-390 has a top speed exceeding 900 kilometers per hour, a range of 6,000 kilometers, and a service ceiling of 11,000 meters.
