Slovakia’s Ministry of Defence has unveiled a new combat uniform system and a comprehensive package of modernized infantry weapons for the country’s armed forces.

The Slovak military’s new Personal Clothing System – Combat Uniform, designated M25 (Vzor 25), replaces the digital camouflage pattern introduced in 2007 and prioritizes comfort, protection, and long-term field survivability.

“This new uniform fulfills a critical role by enabling soldiers to operate and survive in field conditions over extended periods,” Militär Aktuell quoted Defence Minister Zmeko as saying, noting that the design incorporates operational feedback and lessons learned from recent conflicts.

The standard kit is priced at approximately €300 ($354) and includes field trousers, a combat blouse, and a cap, with additional mission-specific variants, including flame-resistant configurations, available as required.

Although the fabric is sourced internationally, the tailoring and final production will be carried out by Slovak domestic manufacturers.

Alongside the Vzor 25 rollout, troops will receive upgraded body armor, helmets, and night-vision systems, further modernizing personal equipment.

Weapons from Grand Power

Bratislava also confirmed the adoption of new domestically produced small arms from Slovak manufacturer Grand Power.

The GP M4M 5.56×45 mm assault rifle will become the standard infantry weapon, supported by the GP R10 7.62×51 mm sniper rifle, Stribog SP9 A3 9×19 mm submachine gun, and the GP Q1 9 mm pistol, according to Militarnyi.

Defence Minister Kaliňák stated that the rearmament program will cost approximately €82 million ($96.7 million), with deliveries scheduled to continue through 2028.
