AM General has partnered with India’s Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL) to jointly market advanced artillery solutions to defense customers worldwide.

The collaboration centers on KSSL’s Mounted Artillery Gun (MArG), unveiled in 2025 as the first 155mm artillery system mounted on a 4×4 high-mobility vehicle. Designed with a compact and lightweight configuration, the platform is intended to operate effectively across diverse terrains and challenging environmental conditions.

Mounted on a 9-meter vehicle and operated by a six-person crew, the MArG can weigh up to 24 tonnes depending on its setup. The system is capable of firing three rounds in 30 seconds in burst mode and maintaining a sustained rate of up to 42 rounds per hour. It accommodates 39-, 45-, and 52-caliber guns and can engage targets at distances exceeding 40 kilometers.

Beyond the international marketing effort, the two companies plan to deepen their industrial partnership by submitting a MArG-based solution for the US Army’s Mobile Tactical Cannon (MTC) program. The initiative seeks to replace the Army’s aging M777 155mm towed howitzers with more than 400 modern wheeled artillery systems beginning in 2027, with a contract award anticipated by July 2026.

According to the partners, the collaboration demonstrates their shared commitment to delivering operationally ready firepower solutions tailored to future battlefield requirements.
