The US Air Force has partnered with StandardAero under a $343-million contract to provide depot-level maintenance services for Rolls-Royce T56 engines used on Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules aircraft.

Under the agreement, StandardAero will repair and overhaul the engines, related modules, and components across multiple configurations. The work will support more than 1,200 C-130 aircraft operated by the US Armed Forces and 29 foreign military sales partners, including Canada, Italy, and Taiwan.

The 10-year contract will be coordinated with the Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. StandardAero will carry out the work in San Antonio, Texas.

Turbopower and Segers Aero Corp. also secured positions under the competitive contract, with operations taking place in Florida and Alabama, along with additional work in Winnipeg, Canada.

The Rolls-Royce T56

The Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules is powered by Rolls-Royce T56 engines, enabling the aircraft to reach speeds of around 320 knots and operate over a range of approximately 2,050 nautical miles, with a service ceiling of up to 33,000 feet.

Beyond the C-130, the T56 also powers platforms such as the Lockheed Martin P-3 Orion, used for anti-submarine warfare and hurricane-hunting missions, as well as the Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye.

Since entering service, more than 18,000 T56 engines have been manufactured. The engine has been operated in 70 countries and has accumulated over 230 million flight hours.
