Milrem Robotics of Estonia has successfully mounted Ukraine’s BURIA remote weapon station on its THeMIS ground combat robot, further expanding its battlefield versatility.
The BURIA turret, armed with a 40mm automatic grenade launcher effective to 1,100 meters, was tested in Ukraine during live-fire exercises. Results showed the UGV delivered high stability, accuracy, and tracking capability under combat-like conditions.
Weighing 47 kilograms, BURIA uses automated targeting and fire control for rapid precision strikes. It has been deployed with Ukrainian forces since January 2025 and has now moved into serial production.
The THeMIS platform—used in Ukraine for casualty evacuation and route clearance—can run for eight hours, reach 50 km/h, and be fitted with weapons ranging from machine guns to anti-tank missiles.
Further live trials will continue soon, with test results expected to shape future system upgrades and integration strategies.
