Rheinmetall and Nooteboom Trailers BV have entered into a cooperation agreement to jointly develop and market military Heavy Equipment Trailer (HET) systems, aiming to address growing demand for heavy transport capabilities across Europe.

The partnership covers joint design, industrialization, and sales of HET platforms, with production planned in Romania. The systems will combine Rheinmetall’s MAN Military Vehicles tractor units with Nooteboom’s specialized trailers to deliver advanced transport solutions for heavy military assets.

Both companies highlighted their complementary strengths, with Nooteboom contributing decades of expertise in designing heavy-duty trailers capable of carrying payloads up to 200 tonnes, along with a strong reputation in the logistics sector. Its portfolio includes systems such as the MANOOVR MPL, EURO-PX low-bed loaders, Super Wing carriers for wind turbine blades, Teletrailer flatbeds, SMART lightweight trailers, and Ballasttrailers for crane counterweights.

Rheinmetall, in turn, brings military vehicle production expertise, industrial capacity, and global market access, enabling the partnership to offer fully integrated transport solutions. Its MAN Military Vehicles lineup includes the HX high-mobility tactical trucks, available in configurations from 4×4 to 10×10, and the TG-MIL series based on commercial platforms.

The HX trucks are designed to transport heavy military equipment, while the TG-MIL range supports standard logistics operations in lower-threat environments.

According to the partners, the collaboration is driven by rising demand linked to NATO procurement programs and the increasing deployment of heavy wheeled and tracked platforms such as main battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery, and armored engineering systems.
