Shield AI and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are working to enhance drone autonomy, allowing unmanned systems to operate independently with the ability to perceive, adapt, and collaborate in real time.
In a recent test in Japan, the companies combined Shield AI’s Hivemind software with MHI’s ARMD drone platform to validate these capabilities.
The trial featured two drones autonomously carrying out reinforcement learning tasks, executing preset mission behaviors, and coordinating movements while tracking a virtual airborne target.
