Swiss technology firm Aptiv PLC, along with its US-based subsidiary Winchester Interconnect, has unveiled a new modular connector solution designed for satellite systems and unmanned aerial platforms. Known as Modulus, the system is engineered to handle the transmission of signals, data, and power between connected devices.

The connector integrates high-speed single-pair Ethernet with configurable power delivery in a compact and field-serviceable form factor, enabling easier system development, maintenance, and upgrades. Its standardized interface and rugged design make it well-suited for demanding environments such as low-Earth orbit satellite constellations and tactical drone operations.

Described as a “truly modular architecture,” Modulus addresses the growing need for reduced size, weight, and power consumption in modern defence applications while maintaining high performance. By combining Aptiv’s connector expertise with Winchester Interconnect’s engineering capabilities, the platform offers a flexible solution that can evolve with changing system requirements, eliminating the need for complete redesigns.
