Armed fighters associated with Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces and ex-Seleka militias carried out an attack on a UN peacekeeping facility in Am Dafock, near the Central African Republic–Sudan border. Several Zambian peacekeepers were wounded, and local authorities reported additional fatalities during the incident. The UN mission condemned the assault, emphasizing that such attacks on peacekeeping forces may constitute serious violations of international law. The area is already highly unstable due to ongoing regional conflicts and the movement of armed groups across borders. The incident further intensified tensions in a region that has been affected by instability linked to Sudan’s wider civil conflict and neighboring armed factions.
