GE Aerospace has partnered with StandardAero to support the production and long-term sustainment of CT7-2E1 engines for the UK Armed Forces’ New Medium Helicopter (NMH) program. The collaboration follows Leonardo’s selection of the CT7 engine to power 23 AW149 multi-role helicopters that will replace the British military’s aging Dauphin, Griffin, Puma, and Twin Huey fleets. Leonardo secured the NMH contract in March 2026, covering the delivery of 23 AW149 helicopters, four simulators, 46 engines, spare parts, long-term support services, and future export opportunities. Under the partnership, StandardAero will carry out its work at its Gosport facility in England, strengthening the site’s role within GE Aerospace’s global CT7 engine support network. The initiative will also contribute to the UK government’s industrial strategy by creating skilled jobs, expanding apprenticeship programs, supporting educational outreach, and generating long-term economic and environmental benefits. StandardAero said the award further reinforces its more than four decades of collaboration with the UK Ministry of Defence. In addition to supporting the NMH fleet, the company currently provides maintenance, logistics, overhaul, and technical services for Royal Air Force Chinook helicopters and British Army Apache AH-64E engine programs.
