Researchers at Gdańsk University of Technology in Poland have developed a novel method to neutralize hostile drones without using physical explosions, unveiling a system they describe as an “invisible shield.”

The system, known as STRATUS, employs short, high-intensity electromagnetic pulses to disrupt and disable the electronic components of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). An advanced effector allows precise control over pulse output, ensuring effective neutralization while maintaining safe voltage levels for operators.

Designed as a non-kinetic counter-drone solution, the technology is intended to protect critical infrastructure such as airports, power plants, military installations, and other sensitive public sites vulnerable to drone threats.
