Sikorsky has introduced new modular kits for the UH-60 Black Hawk, allowing the aircraft to be rapidly reconfigured for both transport and armed missions using a single platform. These kits enable operators to switch roles with minimal effort, integrating weapons such as rockets, machine guns, and guided munitions while preserving the helicopter’s core utility functions. Sikorsky states that the conversion can be completed in as little as three hours, enabling the aircraft to support a wide range of missions including air assault, close air support, medical evacuation, ISR, and tactical lift.

The production-ready kits are available in two configurations tailored for close support and precision strike roles. Demonstrated at the Army Aviation Warfighting Summit in Nashville, the armed configuration supports up to six weapon stations. This setup includes 7.62mm cabin-mounted machine guns, GAU-19 .50-caliber Gatling gun pods, and 19-tube rocket launchers, with options for precision-guided munitions. The configuration also indicates compatibility with air-launched effects canisters and a mix of guided missiles such as AGM-114 Hellfire, AGM-179 JAGM, and Spike NLOS.

The kits are offered through foreign military sales and direct commercial channels, enabling adoption across allied fleets. Installation and integration support will be provided through Lockheed Martin-affiliated facilities, including PZL Mielec in Poland. Sikorsky notes that the design builds on extensive operational experience with armed Black Hawk deployments in the Middle East. The platform itself continues to evolve through engine upgrades, digital systems integration, and increasing autonomy, and is expected to remain in service as a core medium-lift helicopter beyond 2070.
