The US Department of Defense has awarded Lockheed Martin a $991-million contract to produce 432 electronic warfare modification kits for the F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft. The upgrades are expected to support the aircraft’s Block 4 modernization effort, enhancing electronic warfare, threat detection, and signal-processing performance against advanced enemy air-defense systems. The kits will be distributed across US military aircraft as well as international F-35 operators and partner nations. Production will continue in Fort Worth, Texas, through 2032 as part of efforts to maintain the F-35’s technological advantage in contested combat environments.
